become a Sanskrit scholar or a mathematician. But when he  appeareddecideddid not initially wanteddrovehad livedhad wonjoinedsaidsawwanted the
Presidency College in Kolkata for higher studies, he  appeareddecideddid not initially wanteddrovehad livedhad wonjoinedsaidsawwanted to study
Economics. As a boy of 10, he  appeareddecideddid not initially wanteddrovehad livedhad wonjoinedsaidsawwanted a large number of people dying
during the Bengal famine and this memory  appeareddecideddid not initially wanteddrovehad livedhad wonjoinedsaidsawwanted him to understand
the causes of poverty and starvation.
Prof Sen is closely related to education. He once  appeareddecideddid not initially wanteddrovehad livedhad wonjoinedsaidsawwanted that he was born on a campus
and it  appeareddecideddid not initially wanteddrovehad livedhad wonjoinedsaidsawwanted to him that he  appeareddecideddid not initially wanteddrovehad livedhad wonjoinedsaidsawwanted on one compus or another.
